Superflo Limited – Health and Safety Policy (New Zealand)
1. Policy Statement
Superflo Limited is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all workers, contractors, customers, and visitors. We recognise our duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) to eliminate or minimise risks to health and safety so far as is reasonably practicable.
We strive to promote a positive health and safety culture by encouraging participation, consultation, and continuous improvement in all aspects of our operations.
2. Purpose and Scope
This policy outlines our approach to managing workplace health and safety risks and applies to all work carried out by or on behalf of Superflo Limited throughout New Zealand, including fixed sites, temporary locations, and client premises.
3. Responsibilities
Officers (Directors and Senior Management)
Officers have a duty of due diligence to ensure Superflo complies with its duties under the HSWA. This includes:
Understanding health and safety risks associated with our operations.
Ensuring appropriate resources and processes are used to eliminate or minimise risks.
Monitoring compliance and health and safety performance.
Workers (Employees and Contractors)
All workers must:
Take reasonable care of their own health and safety.
Ensure their actions do not harm others.
Comply with all reasonable health and safety instructions, policies, and procedures.
Report hazards, injuries, incidents, and near misses immediately.
Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs)
Where elected, HSRs will:
Represent workers on health and safety matters.
Participate in risk assessments and workplace inspections.
Assist in incident investigations and health and safety initiatives.
4. Health and Safety Systems
Risk Management
Identify hazards and assess risks regularly.
Apply the hierarchy of controls to eliminate or reduce risks.
Maintain a risk register and review it periodically.
Training and Supervision
Provide induction and ongoing training tailored to job requirements.
Ensure workers are supervised until competent in their roles.
Incident Management
Maintain an incident reporting and investigation procedure.
Notify WorkSafe New Zealand of any notifiable events (serious injuries, illnesses, or incidents) as legally required.
Analyse incidents to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
Emergency Preparedness
Maintain up-to-date emergency procedures for fire, medical, natural disasters, and site-specific risks.
Conduct regular drills and ensure all workers are familiar with emergency protocols.
Wellbeing and Mental Health
Promote and support mental wellbeing in the workplace.
Encourage early reporting and intervention for stress, fatigue, and other health concerns.
5. Review and Continuous Improvement
This policy will be reviewed at least annually or whenever there are significant changes to operations or legislation.
Performance will be monitored through audits, inspections, worker feedback, and regular reporting.
Health and safety objectives will be set and reviewed annually.
